Cimatron Catalog Updates: Lower Level > Catalog/Product Versioning
Access: Open this function from the following location:
-
Cimatron Control Panel: Select Start > All Programs > Cimatron > Cimatron Control Panel.
Select Main Menu > Cimatron Catalog Updates.
Download Mold & Die part catalogs, or update your existing catalogs.
New or updated parts are constantly released by Cimatron and uploaded to the server. Once released, the parts become immediately available for all Cimatron users, and can be downloaded directly onto your PC or local network.
Catalog and Cimatron Versions
For each catalog part, two types of versions are displayed; the Catalog Version and the Cimatron Product Version.
The data is shown for the local part (if it exists) and also for the part on the server.
Note: Catalog/Product Versioning is not available for Catalog Rules files.
Catalog Versioning
The Catalog Version determines
whether or not a catalog item on your PC or local network is updated.
Each item located on the server has a Catalog Version number; this is an
internal property of each and every officially released catalog item.
All the items located on the server have a version number, Version 1 or
higher.
All the Cimatron
catalog items that exist before the introduction of the catalog server,
or items that are created locally, do not have a version, and hence, these
are regarded as Version 0.
Each time an item is changed and submitted for release, its own catalog
version number is incremented. An item that has a higher version number
on the server (than on your PC or local network) is therefore shown as
an Updated Item.
The following image shows a local installation of a catalog compared with the same catalog currently available on the server.
Note that all existing catalogs are version 0 while the parts on the server are version 1 or 2. Hence all the parts on the server are recognized as Updated Parts (New Version).
This means that until you start downloading from the server, the system will recognize that ALL the parts on the local PC require an update (except for local parts that do not exist on the server).
Only those users who download the parts from the Catalog Server, get the parts with version numbers and will be able to see, from that point onwards, the indications for new or updated parts.
Cimatron Product Versioning
Once a new Cimatron version is released, the catalog parts are regenerated and released for the new version. The regenerated parts will become available from the catalog server (instead of the DVD supplied up to Cimatron version 14.0).
Users see the available catalogs, based on their Cimatron version:
A Cimatron 15.0 user will see the latest released parts for Cimatron 15.0.
A Cimatron 16.0 user will see the latest available parts for Cimatron 16.0 or, if these do not exist yet, then the last available version, Cimatron 15.0.
