DFPOST Instructions

The following are instructions for running the DFPost:

  1. Use the arrow keys to move to the question types whose answers you want to verify or change and press <CR>. The questions appropriate to the section you selected will be displayed.

  2. The default answers will be those of the post processor you loaded. If there is no post processor to load, DFPost defaults will be displayed.

  3. Use the arrow keys to move to the line you want to change. Enter the appropriate numbers or text and press <CR>, or press <TAB> to scroll through the options.

  4. All variables which indicate length are initially expressed in millimeters. To convert the output to a different unit of measure, enter a factor in Section 2 (PROGRAMMING MODE AND UNIT), Question 5 which will be multiplied by the number of units of the part.

  5. When you are finished with each section, press <ESC> to return to the list of sections. Press <ESC> again to display the following:

Press <TAB> to change options, <ESC> to return or Press <CTRL Z> to exit.

  1. Enter a name for the post processor, up to six characters long, which conforms to the naming standards of the local operating system. This file must have the same name as the program file created by the DFEXF stage.

In the DFEXF stage, the file <post-processorname>.exf is compiled and produces the file <post-processorname>.dex . These files are in folder \<Cimatron installation folder>\Data\IT\var\post\.

  1. Use the arrow keys to move through the other questions without changing them or press <TAB> to change the settings. Press <CTRL> Z to end this stage and create the file. Blank the name and press <CTRL> Z to escape without processing. Press <ESC> to return to the questions.

  2. A file with the extension .def is created in folder \<Cimatron installation folder>\Data\IT\var\post; for example: <post-processorname>.def .

  3. If a printout of the DFPOST file is requested, it will appear as follows.

    • The values in angle brackets < > are defaults.

    • Where several options are listed separated by commas, the first is the default value. When there is nothing in the angle brackets, no limit is required.

    • Up to 20 positions may be used for the answers to questions.

    • Use arrow keys to move to a different question without changing the setting. Press <TAB> to select one of the other options.

    • In character fields, quotation marks enclosing blanks may be used to include blank characters at the end of code " ".
