Writing GPP2 Post-Processors for EDM-Setup
GPP2 is the tool to create and format the EDM Setup output file. A GPP2 Post Processor (PP) needs to be developed for each new EDM machine. However, GPP2 PPs for EDM-Setup are somewhat different from regular NC PPs.
The different block structure during the execution of an EDM-Setup PP, which blocks are used and which data is contained in them, are described below.
The EDM-Setup has two operating modes. The mode is defined in the EDM-Setup "profile", and must be properly handled by the EDM-Setup PP. The "legacy" mode is similar to the legacy EDM Setup, and allows the user to select and output entities down to the single location level. The "new" mode also allows selection of individual operations (For example, Rough of location 1), as well as complete locations or even complete electrodes. Where applicable, the differences between the modes is explained. Note that some PPs are compatible with both modes (For example, Sodick or Mitsubishi Direct) whereas some PPs can be used for one mode only (For example, Agie Indirect is legacy only).
