Multi Axis Machining
This feature creates a multiaxis toolpath that can be used to machine pocket-shaped geometries. The calculation uses STL meshes and iges geometries as input. The user must specify the floor, wall and ceiling surfaces and the system then automatically creates the toolpath.
The toolpath can be created on multiple unconnected surfaces within one operation with the same tools and settings.
Supported Tools
Multiaxis machining can be used with all available tools, but the availability of the tools depends on the pattern.
The roughing pattern supports the following tools:
- End mill
- Sphere mill
- Bullnose mill
- Taper mill
- Barrel mill
The finishing pattern supports the following tools:
- Sphere mill
- Lollipop mill
- Taper mill with full corner
- Barrel mill
Units
The calculation can be based on the metric or imperial system.
- Metric: all the values used in this calculation have a unit of 1 millimeter.
- Imperial: all the values used in this calculation have a unit of 1 inch.
- When 'relative' values or angles are used in the settings, they are relative to the present toolpath point or relative to the direction of movement of the tool.
