Insert Picture (Drafting)

Access: Open this function from the following location:

  • Select Sheets > Tools > Insert Picture from the menu bar.

Insert and embed external graphic files into existing drawings, frames and templates regardless of the active view.

After inserting the file, you can then move and resize the picture within the drawing, as required. It is recommended to avoid placing heavy pictures, since this may slow down system performance. This option is used for adding system logos or for displaying part pictures and so on.

The following options can be performed:

Note: Since the pictures are embedded, there is no association between the original picture and embedded picture. This means that changes to the original picture will not affect the inserted picture.

Embed graphic files

  1. InvokeInvoke (for more, click Access at the top of this Help topic) the Insert Picture function. The Insert Picture browser dialog is displayed.
  2. From the browser dialog, select the image type required (JPG or PNG) and navigate to select the image file.
    The picture is embedded in the drawing, as follows:

Moving Embedded Pictures

To move embedded pictures, pick a point on the screen to define the new position of the picture. The picture will jump to the picked point.

Note: When the 8 dragging points of the picture are displayed, one of them is displayed in RED; this is  the anchor point of the inserted picture. By default, the bottom left corner point is marked RED. When picking one of the other points (or dragging the symbol by one of the points), this other point will become the RED anchor point.

Move embedded pictures

  1. Make sure the Move toggle button is displayed and then select one of the eight hot spots (one at each corner and one at each mid-point).The selected hot spot is displayed in red, as follows:
  2. Move the picture by picking a point on the screen to define the new position of the picture. (The picture will jump to the picking point).

Resizing Embedded Pictures

You can resize embedded pictures using the Resize toggle button.

  1. Make sure the Resize toggle button is displayed and then select one of the eight hot spots (one at each corner and one at each mid-point).The selected hot spot is displayed in red, as follows:
  2. Resize the picture by dragging the hot spot and then right-click the mouse button and select Close to exit the function.
