Transformation by Geometry

When performing a Transformation operation "By Geometry", appropriate geometrical entities need to be picked (to signify, for example, the start and destination points or a mirroring plane for a transformation). The type of entities that can be picked are displayed in the Transformation by Geometry dropdown list and depend on which Transformation subselection (Copy, Copy Array, Move, Mirror Move or Mirror Copy) is chosen.

To pick these entities:

InvokeInvoke (for more, click Access at the top of this Help topic) the Transformation by Geometry option.

From the dropdown list, select the type of entity (or entities) to be picked to complete the requirements for the transformation.

For example:

The entity type is displayed in the next row of the table.

Press the number next to type of entity chosen, and you are ready to start selecting the geometrical entities.

For example:

Pick the appropriate entity (or entities) - for example, the start and destination points for a transformation. When picking the entities, appropriate screen parameters are displayed in the graphics area of the screen, and the entity (or entities) picked are labeled with the appropriate operation; for example:

Screen parameters:Screen parameters:

Screen parameters are displayed when in geometric picking mode. The parameters that are displayed, depend on which Transformation subselection (Copy, Copy Array, Move, Mirror Move or Mirror Copy) is chosen and also on which type of entity is chosen to be picked. The following screen parameters may be displayed:

All Displayed

Select all the displayed entities of the type you chose from the dropdown menu; for example - UCSs.

UCS Manager

Displays the UCS Manager and enables you to manipulate the selected UCSs. This option is available if a UCS entity type is selected from the dropdown list.

By Criteria

Enables you to pick an entity (or entities) by criteria. This option is available if an entity has not already been picked.

Reset Selection

Enables you to cancel the selection and start again. This option is available if an entity has already been picked.

Select the appropriate approval option under the screen parameters.

When you exit the geometry picking mode, the following occurs:

The number of picked entities is displayed in the Geometry Parameters Table.

For example:

The origin and destination points are labeled as such, together with the milling order.

Approval Options

The following approval options are available when picking geometry for transformation:

OK. Accept the picked geometry and exit geometry picking mode.

Apply. Accept the picked geometry and remain in geometry picking mode.

Cancel. Exit the geometry picking mode and cancel any selections.
