Layer Interval Settings Docking Pane

The Layer Interval Settings Docking Pane allows you to set up and control the layer functionality designed for the 3D Backplotting.

It is grouped into two main panes:

  • Layer Thickness is where you specify and control the thickness of a layer.

  • Sectioning by Layer offers different options to control which layers you see on the screen.

Layer Thickness

The Layer Thickness section provides two main options for generating layers:

  • Automatic: Automatically defines the size of a layer based on the tool diameter. This option is only available for 3D Backplotting.

  • Manual: Allows the user to define the size of a layer. The value unit system is taken from the simulation.

Note: The unit system appears in the group name ("mm" for Metric System and "inch" for Imperial System).

Sectioning by Layer

The Sectioning by Layer section provides two main options for displaying layers:

  • Show Single Layer (based on Layer Thickness): This option is based on the Layer Thickness that was previously set. It displays a single layer. Use the numeric stepper or slide bar to choose the layer to display.

  • Show Layer Range: Display a series of layers based on the Layer Thickness that was previously set and on the following additional settings:

    • Upper Layer: When this option is selected, an upper layer can be selected as the end of the series to display. Use the numeric stepper or slide bar to choose the topmost layer to display. When this option is unselected, the layer series will be displayed up to the topmost layer.

      • Show Section Plane: Show or hide a section plane.

      • Color: Double-click on the color box to open a dialog for choosing the color of the section plane.

    • Lower Layer: When this option is selected, a lower layer can be selected as the end of the series to display. Use the numeric stepper or slide bar to choose the lowest layer to display. When this option is unselected, the layer series will be displayed down to the lowest layer.

      • Show Section Plane: Show or hide a section plane.

      • Color: Double-click on the color box to open a dialog for choosing the color of the section plane.
