Chip Load: Create Down Steps
Divide a problematic area into a number of down steps not to exceed a certain limit. The chip load calculation is based on the machined volume / optimal volume ratio, as in the Reduce Feed option.
If this option is chosen, the following parameter will appear in the Procedure Parameter Table:
Max Down Steps: The maximum number of Down Steps for dividing the chip load.
Example:
Rather than mill the whole block in one pass, potentially damaging the cutter, the cutter motions are divided into down steps.
