High Speed Machining Parameters
High Speed Machining (HSM) means milling with light depths-of-cut at high feed rates with smaller tools.
This enables milling alone to bring the part close to its final form. Instead of using different machines for rough milling, finish milling, EDM and polishing, a mold maker might produce a core or cavity from start to finish using fast, light cuts on a single machining center.
The High Speed Machining branch enables you to define the level of control over its use and over the display of the parameters in the branch. The following branch options are available:No, Basic and Advanced - No is the default option.
Click here for a complete list of parameters in this table.
Branch option: Advanced
For a parameter description, click on a parameter in the dialog image below.
Depending on the procedure and your parameter settings, some parameters may not be available or other parameters may be displayed.

Note: When Trochoidal and Multi Z are both defined, Trochoidal has the priority. Multi Z is automatically activated whenever trochoidal does not satisfy the geometrical conditions.
Additional HSM options are available if the following procedures are selected:
The parallel optionsparallel options of Rough and Finish (except for Finish by Limit Angle - see below):

Finish Mill All (Machining Method = Parallel)

Notes:
-
The parameter Round Connections is displayed if the Cutting Mode (in Rough Parallel) or the Horiz. Cutting Mode (in the Finish procedures) is set to Mixed.
Branch option: No
The default option for this branch is No. This means that High Speed Machining parameters are not set.
Branch option: Basic
The Basic option displays the following parameter and enables minimal control over High Speed Machining:
The Basic option is the default and only option available for VoluMill Pocket.
