Defining Drill Orientation
In 4 and 5-axis toolpaths, you can adjust the drill orientation when picking points. You can also adjust drill orientation when modifying points.
Defining a drill reference surface
-
Click Define.
-
Select a reference surface, choose the arrow direction, and exit. The Define button changes to Current, which means that the start drill position of any drill points that you select will be based on this reference surface.
To select a different reference surface, click the Current button (which toggles back to Define) and then repeat 1 and 2 above.
-
Select the drill points as defined in the Edit Points dialog (by Single Point or Hole Center).
-
Set the Axis Direction to be normal to the reference surface, or along the Z axis.
-
Click Normal Projection if the drill point does not lie on the reference surface, and you want to project the point normally onto the surface.
If you want to add points of a different orientation:
-
Toggle Current to Define, and select a new reference surface. Choose the arrow direction and exit.
-
Select the Axis Direction (Normal or Z-axis).
-
Pick the drill points as you have defined in the Edit Points dialog (by Single Point or Hole Center).
