Cutters and Holders: Machining Type

Access: Open this function from the following location:

  • Select the Use Multiple Cutters parameter, under Cutters & Holders within the Procedure. The Use Multiple Cutters parameter is displayed in the following functions: Finish, Cleanup and Pencil.

The Machining Type dropdown can be used to select a predefined set of machining parameters that are suitable for similar materials (for all Procedures except Measurement, Transformation, Connection, and Convert to 5X).

The predefined set of materials is configured in the Material Table.

The default options that can be selected, and which must correspond to the settings in the Materials Table, are:

  • General
  • Roughing
  • Semi Finishing
  • Finishing
  • High Feed

The Automatic Parameters Update checkbox updates the relevant parameters (Feed, Spin, Down Step, and so on) when the Machining Type dropdown is changed.

Configuring the Material Table

The Material Table contains additional sets of values for each (predefined) material. Each row in the table represents the values for a specific material; for example, Feed, Spin, Vc., Fz., Coolant. In each row there exists the same mathematical relations (between, for example, Feed, Spin, Vc. and Fz.) as exists in the Machine Parameters tab. For more, see Machine Parameters > Materials.
