Picking Remachine Segments

Access: Open this function from the following location:

Remachine Segments are those segments selected for remachining from the Remachine Segments Table.

The button adjacent to the Geometry > Remachine Segments option displays the number of segments selected. If no cutter was selected or no segments were selected, the field shows 0. Click this button to display the Remachine Segments Table for Cutter (row) and Segments selection.

This function finds all unmachined regions (segments) for a previously used reference cutter. All data is displayed in the graphics window and controlled via the Remachine Segments Table.

When the Remachine Segments Table is invoked from the menu toolbar, these segments can be edited as required. They can be deleted, merged, split, trimmed and given a direction based on future machining requirements.

When the Remachine Segments Table is invoked from within a procedure (the NC Parameter table grid > Geometry > Remachine Segments option), editing operations on these segments are not available.

The following parameters and table are displayed:

Screen Parameters

Select the appropriate screen parameter:

Select All Displayed Segments

Select all the displayed segments from those highlighted when a main row in the table is selected.

Select All Unmachined Segments

Select all the unmachined segments from those highlighted when a main row in the table is selected.

Select Similar Direction Segments

Select all segments that have the same direction vector. This option is available if all the selected segments have the same direction.

Reset Selection

Reset the segment selection.

Exit: Exit the operation and close the dialog/task.

When exiting the table, the selected (activated) cutter and the selected segments are used by the procedures.

The following 'rules' apply when invoking the Remachine Segments from a procedure:

The cutter and segments are inherited from a previous selection; when the Remachine Segments function is invoked prior to running the Guided Cleanup or Multi Axes Guided Cleanup procedures.

Editing cutters or segments is not possible when the table is open for selection from a procedure.

When a main row in the Remachine Segments Table is selected, this highlights all the segments, relevant to that row, to be milled by the Guided Cleanup or Multi Axes Guided Cleanup procedure. You can then select and deselect these segments by choosing the appropriate screen parameter (described above).
