Approach/Retract - Contour

Set the contour approach and/or retract motions.

Depending on the NC procedure, one or more of these options may be available.

Normal

The cutter will approach / retract normal to the contour. In this case, define the Approach / Retract Length.

Example:Example:

Tangent

The cutter will approach / retract through a 90° arc that is tangent to the contour. In this case, define the Arc Radius.

Example:Example:

Helical

A set of motions from one layer to another on an HELIX shaped trajectory.
That is to say - Tangential Approach & Retract but with a Z component on such motions. Mainly geared for HSM operations to connect layers smoothly.  In this case, define the Arc Radius.

This option is only displayed for Surface Milling > Legacy Procedures > By Layers.

Example:Example:

Bisection

A linear motion bisecting the angle between two adjacent entities.
That is to say - sort of an 'hybrid' between Tangential And Normal Approach & Retract motion. Mainly geared for acute angle part locations where Tangential or Normal Approach & Retract cannot be performed. In this case, define the Approach / Retract Length.

This option is only displayed for 2.5 Axes Profile procedures (all options).

Example:Example:

Z-Up

The cutter movement is at the Plunge Feed rate from the D/Z Feed Start to the first cutting point on the surface.

Example:Example:

(These parameters are set in the Approach & Retract section of the Procedure Parameter Table.)
