When a NC file is opened or created, it is loaded into a window in the NC environment. A NC environment is divided into two main areas: a Tree Pane and the graphics area (Graphics Pane).
The TreeĀ Pane has two trees:
The NC Process Manager tree (upper) contains detailed information of all toolpaths and their procedures, including the status of each toolpath and procedure by using status flags and symbols.
The Parameter Tables tree (lower) are grids that list all parameters by type (Motion, Cutters and Holders, Machine, and Geometry parameters) for each procedure. Toolbars are displayed on top and to the left of the graphics area.
There are two ways of working within NC: Wizard mode and Advanced mode. (Wizard mode is the default.)
Wizard Mode
The amount of free space in the graphic display is maximized.

The NC environment is where you create the milling or drilling cutter motions needed to create the desired end part. This environment takes you through every step, from defining cutters and creating toolpaths and procedures, to machining simulation and post-processing (the conversion of NC toolpaths and procedures into a G-Code program required by a specific CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine).
