Quick Tour

This topic introduces the major components of the Cimatron software and what each is used for.

The Sketcher component is used to create a 2D profile of the desired 3D object. After extruding the sketch to the desired 3D object (Part), 3D features such as holes, chamfers, fillets, cuts, and so on can be added. As many features as necessary can be added to a part to fully define it. After a part has been created, multiple parts can be put together to create an assembly. Creating assemblies gives an early look at how parts will fit together. Small errors can be corrected in the fit between parts without having to spend time or money on prototyping early in a design process.

The Mold Project is a work environment methodology that provides a flexible environment, enabling the creation of active parts and mold components for complex molds. The Mold Project tutorial introduces this concept.

The Electrode environment is part of an integrated solution for mold design and manufacturing, equipped with dedicated features to automate the electrode design process, including burning faces selection, electrode design, management, documentation and the manufacture of surface geometry.

The Numerical Control (NC) Subtractive Manufacturing environment is part of an integrated solution to turn your mold and die designs into prototypes or fully functioning production mold/die tools with unprecedented accuracy and speed.
