Alter Milling Zones

This option is used together with the Enable Nesting of Milling Zones option.

The Alter Milling Zones option is available from the popup menu when right-clicking in the graphics area while selecting contours via the NC Contour Manager.

The interaction for the Alter Milling Zones option option differs depending on the state of the Enable Nesting of Milling Zones checkbox.

Enable Nesting of Milling Zones checkbox = ON

Enable Nesting of Milling Zones checkbox = OFF

Enable Nesting of Milling Zones checkbox = ON

When this checkbox is marked , milling zones can be nested (the selection of contours within contours is considered "valid" in the Contour Manager). In the example below four contours are selected:

When the Alter Milling Zones option is invoked, the following interaction is displayed:

"Outer" and "Inner" labels are displayed for the selected contours defining the milling zones.

As nesting is allowed, milling will occur between "Outer" and "Inner" labels and the result is as shown hereshown here.

As mentioned above, the Alter Milling Zones option is used to alter the state of the contours defining the milling zones. Each of the labels can be toggled to "Outer/Inner", thereby altering the defined milling zones.

In the example below, one of the labels (highlighted in red) has been toggled from "Inner" to "Outer".

When the OK button is pressed and you return to the Contour Manager, the affected contours are marked as problematic and an appropriate tooltip message is displayed:

In this case, the resulting motions are as shown below (the affected contours are disregarded):

Enable Nesting of Milling Zones checkbox = OFF

When this checkbox is OFF , milling zones cannot be nested (the selection of contours within contours is considered "invalid" and are disregarded). In the example below four contours are selected:
