Import Geometry
: Options and Results
Access: Open this function from the following location:
Import selected geometry to the active component.
This function transfers data from one part to another while in the Assembly environment. This function is only accessible when a part component is activated in the Assembly environment.
Required Step 1
Select the geometry to be imported.
Notes:
-
You can only select geometry from the non-active components of the assembly. You cannot select geometry from the active part or one of its instances.
-
Valid geometry includes curves, faces, and objects.
-
You cannot import geometry from more than one part.
-
The location and orientation of the imported geometry will be set according to that of the source geometry.
The following toggle option is displayed:
Fixed Position |
The imported geometry is kept in its fixed position within the assembly file. |
Place By Reference |
This option enables you to add the selected geometry to the active part in the same UCS orientation it has in the original part. This is especially useful during the forming process in the DieDesign environment, allowing geometry to be precisely moved from one forming shape to another. If further geometry manipulation is necessary, it can be performed using the arrows found at each location. If you use the Place By Reference option of this function, the interaction is that of DieDesign > General > Import By Reference. |
