Dilute Passes - Finish

When shallow slopes exist in some places of the geometry, the Down Step is defined for the entire layer and may result in redundant milling. The Dilute Passes checkbox option reduces these redundant motions, thereby reducing machining time. This option is available in Finish procedures when machining by layers and using a Variable Down Step (Vertical Step by = Variable).
Default = ON .

The Down Step amount is determined by the slope of the walls, so a shallower slope results in smaller down steps.

When the Dilute Passes checkbox is OFF and shallow slopes exist in some places of the geometry, the Down Step is defined for the entire layer and may result in redundant milling, thereby increasing the machining time.

Dilute Passes = OFF
Redundant motions not optimized

Dilute Passes = ON
Redundant motions optimized - reduced

When the Dilute Passes checkbox is ON , the Variable Down Step layer height is still used, however unnecessary motions are reduced, thereby also reducing machining time. Note that using this option may cause the cutter to leave the part more often.

The Dilute Passes checkbox appears in the Finish Mill All and Finish Mill By Limit Angle procedures, when machining by layers and using a Variable Down Step (Vertical Step by = Variable).
