Limit Number of Layers |
Limit the number of layers to be machined, for each region. This is especially applicable when machining thin walls, ribs or electrodes. The following dropdown list of options are available to limit the layers to be machined: This parameter considers the Z-Top and Z-Bottom limits. The following part is used to explain the parameter options; note that, in this example, one Finish procedure mills the top layers (in this case ten) of all the components, even though their heights are different: Note: This parameter is displayed in the Advanced branch option, for the Finish Mill All (when Machining Method = Layers or Helical) and Finish Mill by Limit Angle procedures. |
No |
Do not limit the number of layers to be machined. |
Machine only N Top (Bottom) Layers |
Limit the layers to be machined by specifying the number of top (or bottom) layers to be machined. If this option is selected, the Number
of Layers parameter is displayed where you define the value
of "N" - see below. Example: Number
of Layers = 10: An additional
example of using this parameter is shown in the image below. In
this example, if the Number of
Layers parameter = 3: |
Exclude N Top (Bottom) Layers |
Limit the layers to be machined by specifying the number of top (or bottom) layers to be skipped (not machined). If this option is selected, the Number
of Layers parameter is displayed where you define the value
of "N" - see below. Example: Number
of Layers = 10: An additional example
of using this parameter is shown in the image below. In this example,
if the Number of Layers
parameter = 3: |
Machine Only Approx. Top (Bottom) Height |
Limit the layers to be machined by specifying the approximate height of the top (or bottom) layers to be machined. If this option is selected, the Top Approximated Z-Height parameter is displayed where you define the approximate height, and the Number of Layers parameter is grayed out, as shown below.
|
Exclude Approx. Top (Bottom) Height |
Limit the layers to be machined by specifying the approximate height of the top (or bottom) layers to be skipped (not machined). If this option is selected, the Top Approximated Z-Height parameter is displayed where you define the approximate height, and the Number of Layers parameter is grayed out, as shown below.
|
Number of Layers |
The number of layers to be machined or skipped. This parameter specifies the value of "N" for the appropriate options of the Limit Number of Layers parameter (above). Note: This parameter is displayed if Limit Number of Layers (above) = Machine only N Top (Bottom) Layers or Exclude N Top (Bottom) Layers. |
