Copying, Cutting, and Pasting Procedures
There are some practical limitations on copying procedures between different types of toolpaths.
The available toolpath types in Cimatron, in ascending order of complexity, are;
- 2.5 Axis
- 3 Axis
- 4 Axis with Rotation Axis X
- 4 Axis with Rotation Axis Y
- 4 Axis with Rotation Axis Z
- 5 Axis
- All of the above, with and without Micro Milling.
Procedures can be copied from less complex toolpaths to more complex toolpaths if the procedure is valid in the target toolpath.
For example:
-
Procedures may be copy or cut and pasted from a 2.5 Axis toolpath to a 3-Axis toolpath.
-
Procedures may be copy or cut and pasted from a 2.5 Axis toolpath to a 5-Axis toolpath.
-
4 Axis procedures that do not feature rotation and are valid can be pasted.
-
Procedures can be copied from non-Micro Milling to Micro Milling.
Turning procedures are valid in any type of toolpath folder (because the toolpath folder is indifferent for turning operation); For that reason, turning procedures can be copied from any toolpath to any toolpath.
Exceptions
5X procedures are locked to the rotation axis according to the toolpath type and cannot moved between toolpath types.
Legacy procedures (Aiming Surfaces 4X, Part Surfaces 4X, Ruled Surfaces 4X, CurveMX 4X, Drill 4X and Automated Drill 4X) also depend on the rotation axis and cannot moved between toolpath types.
Procedures can not be copied from Micro Milling to non-Micro Milling..
Handling invalid procedure pastes
- Invalid procedures that were copied will not be pasted, and an error message for each failed procedure will be sent to the output pane.
- Invalid procedures that were cut will not be pasted and will be reinstated in the original position, and an error message for each failed procedure will be sent to the output pane.
