NC Templates Manager 

Access: Open this function from the following location:

  • Select NC Utilities > Templates > Templates Manager from the menu bar.

The NC Templates Manager allows you to access and manage NC template files (.pct, .tpt, and .mtt) using the Cimatron NC Templates Explorer.

You can view and edit a template as well as any toolpaths and procedures that comprise a template. You can also copy, delete, move, and rename templates as needed.

Some template information can be edited directly from the NC Templates Explorer, such as Description, Units of measurement (mm or inches), Comment, etc. You can also view and edit a procedure's parameters, including cutting-related information:

  • Comment

  • Coolant

  • Cutter diameter

  • Cutter name

  • Down Step

  • Feed

  • Fz

  • Side Step

  • Spin

  • Vc

Template Converter

 

Important! Some NC template files will require a one-time conversion in order for the procedures and cutters to be displayed in the NC Templates Manager. To convert these templates, use the Cimatron NC Template Converter (CNcTemplateConverter.exe).

The converter file can be found in the following folder:

...\Program File\Cimatron\Cimatron\2026.0\Program\

 

Open the CNcTemplateConverter.exe file. The Template Converter dialog is displayed.

Browse to and select the folder that contains the template files you want to convert.

Click Execute to convert the template files.

Using the NC Templates Manager

Select NC Utilities > Templates > Templates Manager from the menu bar.

The Cimatron NC Templates Explorer opens.

From the Folder tree, navigate to the folder where your templates are located and select a template.

 

Note:

NC templates are stored in the MM and Inch sub-folders located in the following folder:

...\ProgramData\Cimatron\Cimatron\2026.0\Data\templates\ENC

 

From the File Control pane, you can select a template and drill down using the  icon to list the template's toolpaths and procedures (and associated cutters).

Click the  icon to close or collapse a particular list.


Note: You can select multiple procedures at once; however, only the properties (attributes) that are common to all the selected procedures are displayed in the Properties panel (see the next step).

Notice that when you select a template, a picture and the template's properties are displayed in the Properties pane. Also, the template's General and Advanced properties are listed. Click the Expand / Collapse  icons to expand or collapse the properties as needed. Use the scroll bar on the right to scroll up or down the Properties pane.

You can also edit many of the template's properties directly from the Properties pane.

Managing templates with the NC Templates Explorer

With the NC Templates Explorer, you can perform multiple operations on template files, such as cut, copy, paste, delete, and rename. You can also edit the templates's properties from the Properties pane.

Click on a template and click the right mouse button.

A menu appears. Select the operation you want to perform on the template.

Editing and saving procedure parameters

You can view and edit a procedure's parameters from the NC Templates Manager.

Click on the  icon to the left of a template to drill down to its toolpath and procedures.

Click on a procedure. Its parameters are displayed in the Properties pane.

If needed, toggle the Expand / Collapse  icons for the General or Advanced properties to expand or collapse the properties as needed.

Enter a value for a parameter directly into the entry field or use the arrows to increase/decrease its value.

After you enter a new value for a parameter, the Undo / RedoSave icon  appears at the top of the Properties. Click  to Save the new value.

When you are finished, click Close at the bottom right of the NC Templates Explorer dialog.
