Stitch Tolerance
A tolerance value for edges and vertices of adjacent faces can be defined in the Modeling Preferences > Stitch Properties. The minimum value is 0.000001 mm (ACIS tolerance) and the maximum value 1 mm. The default is 0.001 mm.
In order for the stitch operation to succeed, the distance between the 2 faces must be smaller than the stitch tolerance value defined in Preferences > Stitch Properties.
Below is an example of the creation of tolerant edges and vertices common to the adjacent faces. The distance between them was 0.001 mm before stitching, and remained 0.001 mm after stitching (within the defined tolerance). There is one common tolerant edge between each pair of faces: red & blue, purple & blue, red & purple
The end points of the blue edge and the purple edge are regarded as one tolerant vertex.
Notes:
-
A tolerant stitch face does not contain any open edges.
-
The main ACIS operations (Boolean, Round, Shell, Offset, etc.) can be used on tolerant stitch faces.
-
Stitch features from previous versions are edited and regenerated according to the standard Stitch mechanism (precise model).
-
Stitch Tolerance only applies to the Stitch Only option in the Stitch function .
