What is TIFF?What is TIFF?

TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) is a common file format for exchanging raster graphics (bitmap) images between application programs. The file extension for a TIFF file is either .tiff or .tif. The TIFF format was developed by the Aldus Corporation (now part of Adobe Systems) for use as scanner images. TIFF files are one of the most common graphic image formats, and are used in desktop publishing, faxing, 3D applications, optical character recognition, medical imaging applications and other applications.
