ECO Tools Introduction

In a typical system development cycle, the specification or the implementation is likely to change during engineering development or during integration of the system elements. These last-minute design changes are commonly referred to as Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and affect the functionality of a design after it has been wholly or partially completed.

The Cimatron ECO Tools provide advanced and reliable analysis, implementation, and documentation of an unlimited number of ECO changes at any stage of a job. They enable you to assess and seamlessly incorporate changes into the model that you have already undertaken work on (mending), saving you considerable time. The ECO Tools also include functionality for tracing and documenting change history.

In this exercise, you will use the ECO tree functions to apply several compares, including compare with an updated file. The updated file includes engineering changes. The work file will then be updated with the modifications applied due to the engineering changes.
