Import / Export Settings (Flavors)
Customized parameter settings for import or export operations can be defined. These settings are based on specific parameter values for individual target groups. For example, this means that if the preferred software for opening a DXF file created using Cimatron is CadKey, the DXF-CadKey export setting would load predefined parameters that enable the creation of a DXF file tailored specifically for CadKey.
This creates a more accurate converted file by automatically setting parameters to allow for target-specific characteristics. It also saves time by allowing you to predefine and save parameter values for certain import or export operations, and then enabling you to reload these parameter values by selecting the appropriate setting.
Some settings are predefined and are system supplied by Cimatron; all import and export operations have a set of Default defined settings. Other settings can be user-created.
Example of System Supplied Settings - Large Mesh Files
When importing mesh format files (3MF, OBJ, PLY and STL, ) into Cimatron, the import options Fix Entities (under the General tab of the Import dialog) and Separate Shells (under the Parameters tab) are recommended, however, both are time-consuming tasks. When using the Large Mesh Files setting, these two options are checked OFF as default, in order to reduce the import operation time.
System Supplied Settings
The following parameter settings are provided;
Note: Some of the supplied flavor settings may not be appropriate for your requirements. Check the parameter settings before completing the import/export operation.

User-Defined Settings
Set parameter values for file conversion operations to a specific target group (in both the General and Parameters tabs - in the Advanced Import or Export dialog).
In the example below, the following parameter values are defined for the Default export setting.
-
Set the required parameter values.
-
Save these parameter values as an export setting. Press the Save Current Settings button
. The Save Settings dialog is displayed.
-
Enter a name for the new setting and click the OK button
.
The newly defined setting now appears in the Export settings field for export operations (or Import settings field for import operations):
The new setting is now part of the dropdown menu for this parameter,
The new setting also appears in the Save Settings dialog, under Existing Settings, when you define another Import / Export Setting.

Next time you use this conversion format, the most recently used settings are displayed (including their parameter values).
