Line: Tangent to Curve

Access: Open this function from one of the following locations:

  • Select Wireframe > Main Tools > Line from the menu bar.

  • Select Curves > Line from the following Die Design Guides: Strip Design.

The following Tangent to Curve options are available.

Required Step 1

  1. Select a curve. A line is created tangent to the selected curve on one side from the selection point towards the direction on the arrow.
  1. If required, you can click the arrow to flip the line direction 180 degrees.

  1. Click OKOK or ApplyApply in the Feature Guide to complete the function.

Additional Example: Delta, One Side, Angle = 30

If required, you can change the angle between the line and the curve.

Required Step 1

  1. Select a curve. A line is created tangent to the selected curve on both sides of the selection point.
  1. Change the Delta and Opposite Delta values to 50. The line is shortened.

To Reference

Create a line on one side by a given direction, tangent to the selected curve, in reference to a plane or point.

Required Step 1

  1. Pick the reference point (or plane). In this example, a point was selected.  A tangent line is created on the curve.
 
  1. Result

 

Note: You can change the Angle value to 45.

  1. Click OKOK or ApplyApply in the Feature Guide to complete the function.
    When completed, the Line feature will appear in the Feature Tree.
