Machine Parameters: VoluMill Parameters

The following parameters appear in the Machine Parameters Table for the VoluMill Pocket and VoluMill Rough procedures:

Enforce Minimum Feed

Select this checkbox to define the minimum feed rate used. This is used to set a lower limit on the cutting feed during the period that the feedrate is adjusted. When the checkbox is selected, the Minimum Feed (%) parameter is available:

Minimum Feed (%)

Set the minimum feed rate to be used. This is set as a percentage of the defined Feed Rate.

Plunge Spin (%)

This is the spindle speed used for the Plunge motion. This is displayed as a percentage of the Spindle Spin speed.

Minimum:1%
Maximum: 999%
Default: 100%

Slot Feed (%)

This is the feedrate used for the slotting cuts. This is displayed as a percentage of the Feed rate.

This parameter is used in conjunction with the Slot Max. Depth parameter.

Minimum:1%
Maximum: 999%
Default: 100%

This parameter is not displayed if the Allow Slotting checkbox is unselected (which means that Side Milling only is performed).

Connection Feed

The feed rate that Connections Z Lift motions are performed. This is the fastest non-Rapid feedrate at which the machine can interpolate linear and circular moves.

Note: When VoluMill completes a cut, it often must reposition for the next cut by moving the tool through an area that has already been machined. Instead of lifting the tool all the way to the Clearance Plane, VoluMill keeps the tool down in the machining area. To prevent dragging the tool across the already-machined floor, the tool lifts by the Connections Z Lift value. To increase efficiency, this move to the next cut is at the highest feedrate possible - the Connection Feed rate.

Dwell

Set the dwell period (a pause in the operation) in seconds, after the tool has completed the plunge motion.

Some machines will not pause to begin feeding until the programmed spindle speed is reached. For these machines the dwell will give the machine time to do so.
