Pick By Box
Access: Open this group of functions from one of the following locations:

Select the required Select by Box option in the floating toolbar.

Select Edit > Selection from the menu bar. Select the required function.
Select multiple entities by dragging a rectangle over the relevant area. The entities that are selected by dragging depend on your defined Selection Preferences.
Note: When you 'pick' (click on) an entity, it becomes 'selected' and is displayed as selected in the defined color. You can define the color of selected entities (and also highlighted entities) in the Preferences under Tools > Preferences > General > Colors > Highlight and Select.
How to "Pick By Box"
With the left mouse button pressed, drag a rectangle that encompasses all entities you want to select.

Examples:

Drag a box from right to left . . .
. . . only the two vertical edges are selected, the only entities fully contained by the box.

Drag a box from left to right . . .
. . . all partially and fully contained entities are selected.
