Cimatron Preferences : My Default Preferences

Access: Invoke this function from one of the following locations:

The Cimatron Preferences are used to customize certain aspects of your work mode and control what appears in the display. Parameters defined in the Preferences will be set as defaults throughout Cimatron. This automatic definition of parameters can save you time and also ensure consistency.

In addition to Cimatron's system default Preferences mentioned above, you can also define personal default Preferences known as My Default Preferences, which are saved to a file separate from the system default Preferences. You also have the option to reset all Preferences to either your personal default Preferences (My Default Preferences) or the system default Preferences. This functionality is especially useful when frequently switching between diverse work modes.

My Default Preferences are stored in the following folder location/file:

. . . ProgramData\Cimatron\Cimatron\2026.0\Data\LocalPreferenceSource\CimatronE.prf

Interaction

Defining and saving My Default Preferences

OpenOpen(click on the Access button above for instructions to invoke this function) the Preferences Editor and select a Preferences category from the navigation tree.

Note that the Save Current Preferences as My Default Preferences button  at the bottom of the dialog is grayed out and not available for selection. This button is activated once changes are made to Preferences by selecting (or unselecting) parameters in the dialog's parameter definition area.

Select (or unselect) relevant parameter options.

In the example below, the parameter, Use the Show Tool Only for Entities in Selected Sets, is selected. Note that once this parameter is selected, the Save Current Preferences as My Default Preferences button is enabled as shown below (it is no longer grayed out).

Once all parameters have been defined, click on the Save Current Preferences as My Default Preferences button  to save your selections to your personal default Preferences file.

Click on the Apply button  to save and continue or the OK button  to save and exit. (See the Preferences Editor dialog buttons for a full description of each button's function.)

Resetting Preferences

You can reset Preferences from the Cimatron Control Panel > Settings tab. When resetting Preferences, you have the option to reset Preferences to your personal default Preferences (My Default Preferences) or the System Default Preferences.
