Slot Size Analysis
: Options and Results
Access: Open this function from the following location:
-
Select Analysis > Main Tools > Slot Size Analysis from the menu bar.
Analyze the slot sizes of a body. This checks for pockets and ribs that have a height to thickness ratio larger than a defined threshold value (to find slots that are long relative to their thickness).

Required Step 1
Pick a B-rep object.
Required Step 2
Define the height to thickness ratio value and start the analysis. The following parameters are displayed:
|
|
The analysis detects all closed cylindrical and periodic cylinder faces and all closed pockets.
Pockets / Ribs |
Use the slider buttons to define whether to check for pockets or ribs or both of them. Problematic areas will be colored based on the parameter color, red for pockets and blue for ribs. |
Thickness Ratio (L/T) > |
Set the required thickness ratio between the height and the thickness of the slot. The height is defined as the maximum Z - minimum Z in the axis direction. The Thickness and Thickness
Ratio values are defined per material or printer.
If the ratio is larger than the set value, the face(s) are considered as problematic and are colored appropriately- red for pockets and blue for ribs. Default = 6 |
Thickness < |
Set a thickness threshold value. If the diameter (for cylindrical faces) or the thickness (for pocket faces) is larger than the set Thickness value, the face is OK. The Thickness and Thickness
Ratio values are defined per material or printer.
Default = 10mm (0.5 inch) |
Start Analysis |
Perform the analysis based on the current parameter settings. The model is displayed in transparent mode to enhance the clarity of the results. The analysis results are displayed:

Publish to PDF |
Publish to PDF to create 3D PDF files that include parts and assemblies from Cimatron. When the Publish to PDF button is selected, a dialog is displayed giving you additional controls before the selected entities are exported to PDF. The Publish to PDF button is
available after an analysis is run (Start
Analysis) and enables you to print the results of the analysis.
The PDF report is titled Thickness Report and below the visual area, the color-coded map and thickness ranges are displayed. |
When finished, press Exit in the Feature Guide to complete the function.
