Straighten bent solid objects.

Required Step 1

Pick a reference (fixed) face (either planar or closed cylindrical) or press the curve filter to pick a straight edge.

Notes:

The system automatically selects a cylindrical face(s) that is adjacent to the selected entity (edge or planar face), if such a face exists. In the case of a planar face, all adjacent planar faces with the same normal are considered for selection.

The system then moves to the 2nd required step.

Required Step 2

If required, unpick some of the system selected faces.

The following parameters are displayed (together with the system selected cylindrical faces):

Set the parameters as required:

Thickness

Enter the thickness of the object. For an explanation of this parameter, see the Bend function parameters.

K - Factor

Enter the required K-Factor value. For an explanation of this parameter, see the Bend function parameters.

Global / Local

This is a toggle option: Global / Local:

Global

Perform a global Unbend Solid operation.
Example:Example:

The cylindrical face(s) that is adjacent to the selected entity is automatically selected.

Set the parameters (in this case Global and To Flat) and click OK .

The result is as follows; the system flattens the globally selected faces:

Local

Perform a local Unbend Solid operation.
Example:Example:

The cylindrical face(s) that is adjacent to the selected entity is automatically selected. If the system selects more than one cylindrical face, unpick the ones you do not require for the operation. In the example below, only one face remains selected.

Set the parameters (in this case Global, By Angle and the Angle amount) and click OK .

The result is as follows; the system unbends the locally selected faces by the required angle:

To Flat / By Angle

This is a toggle option: To Flat / By Angle:

To Flat

Perform a flat Unbend Solid operation.
Example:Example:

The cylindrical face(s) that is adjacent to the selected entity is automatically selected. If the system selects more than one cylindrical face, unpick the ones you do not require for the operation. In the example below, only one face remains selected.

Set the parameters (in this case Local and To Flat) and click OK .

The result is as follows; the system flattens the locally selected faces:

By Angle

Perform an Unbend Solid operation by the required angle. An additional parameter is displayed requiring you to enter a specific angle value. Possible angle values may be in the range of -360° to +360°, where 0° is the reference (fixed) face you picked in the 1st required step.
Example:Example:

The cylindrical face(s) that is adjacent to the selected entity is automatically selected.

Set the parameters (in this case Global, By Angle and the Angle amount) and click OK .

The result is as follows; the system rebends the globally selected faces by the required angle:

Click OK or Apply in the Feature Guide to complete the function. The object is bent as per the defined parameters.

When completed, the Unbend Solid feature will appear in the Feature Tree as follows:
