Click OK in the Measurements Cycles dialog.
In the procedure parameters grid, notice that the only action that is available is Pause, Terminate, Jump & Report.
The On Machine Inspection procedure is mainly intended to make some kind of validity check before the part is removed from the machine or maybe even somewhere along the process. Its advantage is the ability to define multiple cycles in one procedure. The product from this procedure will most probably be a Report.
The action dialog is the same as was discussed earlier. Due to the special nature and purpose of the procedure, some of the options may not be relevant (for example, the Call or Jump). Furthermore, if the generated report is to show errors, one must set threshold tolerance values. But it is most likely that the different measured features will have different tolerances.
Another thing to understand and remember is that the On Machine Inspection procedure has one active UCS that is shared by all its measuring cycles. If a feature(s) needs to be measured in a different orientation, it will require a separate On Machine Inspection procedure.
Summary
The purpose of In Process Measurement is to enable measurements along the milling process or at its end, as single or multiple measurement operations.
Thirteen (13) of the most common measuring cycles are available. Each with parameters to control the motions and other aspects of the process. For each cycle, the user can instruct some actions that will take place on the machine after the measurement has finished. These actions enable the use of the same cycle for different purposes.
The cycle’s behavior and motions are generic. Eventually, the behavior is different with different measuring systems, according to their programming method. Different machines may not support all available cycles or only have partial support. All support mismatches should be taken care of in the post processor.
This whole functionality helps ensure that better quality parts will be machined.
