Axis

Access: Invoke these functions from one of the following locations:

Click the appropriate button in the toolbar.
Select Wireframe > Datum and then select the required option in the dropdown list of Axes from the menu bar.

Create a datum axis. This axis will not be included as part geometry, but rather will act as a reference axis within part and/or assembly files.

For example, a datum axis can be used as a reference in the Revolve function.

Note: Axes are Immediate functions, which means that it can be accessed independently or from within another part / assembly function (see the example).

Creating an Axis - Detailed Interaction of all Options

The Feature Guide and interaction for this function depend on the type of axis you are creating:

	Defined By	Create an axis that passes through selected entities.
	Intersection	Create an axis at the intersection of two planes or faces.
	Main Axes	Create the main axes (X, Y, Z) for a specified UCS. Either create all the main axes or create an axis in a specific direction.
	Normal	Create an axis normal to an existing plane, edge or line at a given point.
	Parallel	Create an axis parallel to an existing axis, edge, or line.
