Styles & Settings PMI

Access: Open this function from one of the following locations:

  • Click the button in the toolbar.

  • Select Tools > PMI > Styles & Settings from the menu bar.

The PMI Styles and Settings enables you to control the default style for drawing newly-created symbols.

To edit the default PMI styles:

InvokeInvoke (for more, click Access at the top of this Help topic) the PMI Styles and Settings tool. The Styles and Settings dialog is displayed:

 

Dialog Structure:

Font Style

 

Defines the font size and style. This affects only new PMI (it does not affect previously created PMI).

Font Size

 

Set the required font size in the text.

Default = 5

Font

 

Select the required font type from the dropdown list of Windows fonts. The five most recently used fonts are displayed at the top of the list.

Drafting Standard

Defines the Drafting Standard, such as ISO, ANSI, etc. This affects only new PMI (it does not affect previously created PMI).

Active Color and Pen

Defines the pen thickness and color. This affects only new PMI (it does not affect previously created PMI).

Display Style

Sets the display mode (2D or 3D) and font size. This affects all PMI - both new and previously created PMI. See Display Style below.

Dialog Buttons:

Save: Save the settings.

PMI in a new part will be created according to the saved parameters.

Reset: Reset all values and settings to the system defaults.

OK: Accept the changes, perform the operation, and close the current dialog/task.

Cancel: Cancel all changes and close the dialog/task without saving the settings.

 

Note: The default definitions for Font, Font Size, and Drafting Standard options are controlled only by the Styles and Settings dialog and NOT by the Preferences.

Display Style

By default the symbols are Always Readable. This means that even if you Zoom/Pan/Rotate (ZPR) the display and view the model from the opposite side, you will be able to read the text (including the dimensions) you have created.

You can also view the 3D symbols in the originally created orientation if you unselect the Always Readable checkbox.

You can see the symbol in 3D representation or in the 2D screen plane (this means that symbols that were created in a plane normal to the screen will be readable).

You can control the displayed font size of entire symbols in the model.
