Connect Passes via Clear for Distance >

This parameter enables you to control the approach and retract motions when connecting milling passes; specifically, the tool motions between the end of one pass and the beginning of the next pass.

If the distance between these points is > the Connect Passes via Clear for Distance parameter value, then jump between the passes via the Clearance.

Otherwise, if the distance between these two passes is the Connect Passes via Clear for Distance parameter value, then jump directly from the end of one pass and the beginning of the next pass, under the following conditions:

The system did not detect any gouges.

The angle between the walls is less than 15°.

The examples below illustrate the use of this parameter.

A gap (distance) of 30 mm exists in the part.
This means that if the value of Connect Passes via Clear for Distance > is less than 30, the connection between the milling passes over this gap will be via the Clearance.
If the value of
Connect Passes via Clear for Distance > is greater than or equal to 30, the connection between the milling passes over this gap will be directly from one pass to the next.

If the value of Connect Passes via Clear for Distance > is 5, the tool jumps to Clear when encountering this gap of 30mm

If the value of Connect Passes via Clear for Distance > is 40, the connection is not via Clear when encountering this gap of 30mm, but directly from one pass to the next

(This parameter is set in the Entry & End Points branch of the Procedure Parameter Table for the Rough Parallel,Rough Spiral, Volumill Rough and Finish procedures.)
