Connect Passes via Clear for Distance >
This parameter enables you to control the approach and retract motions when connecting milling passes; specifically, the tool motions between the end of one pass and the beginning of the next pass.
If the distance between these points is > the Connect Passes via Clear for Distance parameter value, then jump between the passes via the Clearance.
Otherwise, if the distance between these two passes is ≤ the Connect Passes via Clear for Distance parameter value, then jump directly from the end of one pass and the beginning of the next pass, under the following conditions:
The system did not detect any gouges.
The angle between the walls is less than 15°.
The examples below illustrate the use of this parameter.

A gap (distance) of 30 mm exists in the part. |
|
|
|
If the value of Connect Passes via Clear for Distance > is 5, the tool jumps to Clear when encountering this gap of 30mm |
If the value of Connect Passes via Clear for Distance > is 40, the connection is not via Clear when encountering this gap of 30mm, but directly from one pass to the next |
(This parameter is set in the Entry & End Points branch of the Procedure Parameter Table for the Rough Parallel,Rough Spiral, Volumill Rough and Finish procedures.)
