Procedures: Create

Access: Open this function from one of the following locations:

  • Select NC Process > Process > Procedure from the menu bar.

  • Click the Procedure button from the NC Guide Toolbar.

  • Right-click in the Process Manager, or anywhere in the graphics window when no procedure is active, and select New > Procedure from the popup menu.

Create a Procedure in the active toolpath. A Procedure is a set of cutter movements that conform to a specific machining technology. One or several Procedures can comprise a toolpath.

The maximum number of toolpath folders in an NC file is 2000.

A procedure can be created from a template or from within Cimatron, as described below.

Note: Depending on your milling needs, you may need to create a Stock and Part before you create milling or drilling procedures.

Creating a Procedure

  1. If you have not already done so, create a Toolpath that will contain the procedure.

  2. Choose the location for the procedure by selecting the toolpath or procedure after which the new procedure will be placed.

  3. Click the  button in the NC Guide.

  4. Choose the machining technology (Main Selection) and procedure type (Subselection) that you require.

  5. Set the appropriate parameters in the Parameter Tables. The way parameter tables are displayed depends on which NC Work Mode you are using: Wizard Mode or Advanced Mode. Use the NC Assistant to help you in defining these parameters.

  6. When finished, you can choose from the following Work Mode Dialog buttons:

    • Save & Close to suspend
    • Save & Calculate to execute

    • Save Original

    • Cancel

(These options are also available on the Procedure popup submenu.)
