Compare

Access: Invoke this function from the following location:

  • Select Tools > Geometry > Compare from the menu bar.

Compare and detect changes between the active part (original) and a selected (reference) part.

These changes can then be edited and the model consequently updated. The reference part may be from an NC file.

This function allows you to overlay a new part against the original and easily identify the changes between the two versions. The display shows new geometry in blue and geometry to be removed in red. In addition, Coincident faces are also highlighted. Coincident faces are those that didn’t actually move in the new revision but do have a new trimmed boundary. They are found in the area surrounding a change, and being able to set them apart in a different color makes the actual changes more distinct and easier to spot.

Applying the function automatically adds new faces created in the reference part and removes faces removed from the reference part.

The following is the Feature Guide for Compare:

Tip: You can open the Feature Guide at any time by right-clicking the mouse in the graphic display area.

Required Step 1 : After loading the two files to be compared, either:

Press <exit><exit>(middle mouse button) to accept the current screen location of the parts to be compared (by default they are positioned according to the same UCS - the reference part is positioned on the original part) or

Pick different UCSs, and then press <exit><exit>(middle mouse button) to position each part according to its own UCS.

Required Step 2 : Enter the tolerance and/or select the display mode.

Optional Step 1 : Pick unique reference part faces that will not be added to the original part. This option is displayed once the analysis is complete.

Optional Step 2 : Invoke the Deviation Map function to calculate the distances between the compared parts. This option is displayed once the analysis is complete.
