File Menu: Export Tools

Access: Open this group of functions from the following location:

  • Select File > Export from the menu bar. Select the required function.

This group of functions is used for export operations.

The following functions are available in this group:

Export

Export a Cimatron file to an external file format.

Export by Pick

Export selected entities to an external file format.

Export to Drafting

Export geometry to a drawing file based on a selected template.

Export to Part

Export entities to a new part file.

Export to NC

Export a part (from a Cimatron Part file) or multiple parts or sub-assembly (from a Cimatron Assembly file) to a single Cimatron NC (Subtractive Manufacturing) file for post-printing operations, such as milling, drilling, etc.

When files have been exported to NC, the NC environment is loaded and the Import from Part/Assembly function is invoked.

Publish to PDF

Publish to PDF to create 3D PDF files that include parts and assemblies from Cimatron. When the Publish to PDF button is selected, a dialog is displayed giving you additional controls before the selected entities are exported to PDF.

Import/Export operations are available for the following tasks:

  • Transferring data locally within Cimatron.

    • Transferring files between the various Cimatron working environments (for example, from the Part environment to the Drafting or NC environment).

    • Transferring specific geometric entities between Cimatron files.

  • Transferring files between an external file format (such as ACIS, IGES, etc.) and Cimatron. These types of operations require data to be exchanged digitally between the source and target systems. Cimatron performs accurate and rapid data translations via its Data Interface module that provides numerous options to perform this task.

The Export options that are displayed depend upon the type of file currently open and the method you use to access the export function. The table below summaries the export options, listed alphabetically for each section.
