Pack and Unpack CTF (Compressed Transfer File) Utility

Access: Open this function from one of the following locations:

Cimatron Control Panel: Select Start > All Programs > Cimatron > Cimatron Control Panel.

Select Utilities > Pack & Unpack CTF Files.

Cimatron provides easy tools for packing (compressing) and unpacking Compressed Transfer File (CTF) files.

The Pack & Unpack CTF Files utility in the Cimatron Control Panel enables you pack and unpack CTF files using a single utility.

A CTF file is a Zip-like format for Cimatron files, containing compressed files, data, and path information. A CTF file can be used for backup purposes or for sending to other users.

A CTF file is the best method for compressing Cimatron files as only the relevant files in a folder are compressed. For example, when creating a CTF file of an assembly, only those files in the folder that are used in the assembly are automatically compressed and included in the CTF file; all other files in the folder that are not used in the assembly are not included in the CTF file. Hence, the CTF file contains all the associated files.

Note: From Cimatron 11.0, CTF files holding many Drafting files that all point to the same models are dramatically compressed. Unpack and open these files using Cimatron 11.0 or later.

The Open dialog is displayed. In the Look in field, browse to the location where the CTF file is to be saved. In the File name field, type the name of the CTF file you wish to create and select Open.

The Cimatron Explorer is displayed. Browse to and select the files to be included in the CTF and press Select.

 

The CimZip dialog is displayed containing the selected files. Press Save to save the CTF file.

Unpack a Cimatron compressed CTF file

Run the Pack & Unpack CTF Files utility (see the Access button at the top of this help topic for instructions on accessing this function).

 

The Open dialog is displayed. In the Look in field, browse to and select the CTF file to be unpacked; the name of the selected file appears in the File name field. Press Open.

The Cimzip dialog is displayed, showing the packed files:

The remaining procedure is identical to the Unpacking CTF files operation after the Cimzip dialog is displayed.
