Sets: Editing / Popup Menus

Sets can be modified or additional functionality can be added to sets by right-clicking on an appropriate Set name in the Sets tab and selecting an option from the popup submenu. The popup submenu that is displayed, depends upon the type of Set you selected:

Load Sets

Load sets from other files. The Cimatron Explorer is displayed, and once a file is selected, all its sets are imported to the current file.

Sets can be loaded between the following files:

Part files can load sets from Part or NC files.

NC files can load sets from NC or Part files.

Assembly files can load sets from Assembly files.

Drafting files can load sets from Drafting files.

A Preference option deals with cases where an imported set has the same name as that of an existing set.

Move Entities

Attach the picked geometry to the selected Set while removing it from all other Sets. This option is dimmed if no geometry is picked.

Move to Archive

Same as Move Entities (below). The Archive is a predefined Set containing auxiliary geometry. This option is dimmed if no geometry is picked.

New Set

Open the Sets-Create & Edit dialog to create a new Set.

Present Single Color Set Names

If a face is in a set, display the name of the set while hovering over the face.

This option uses the Single Color Criteria Sets and Load Sets functionality to display the set name.

This option is useful where you use color-coded sets for a specific meaning. Constant color palettes can be defined (using the Single Color Criteria Set), they can then be easily applied to files (using the Load Sets option) and then the meaning of each color (the set name) can be displayed while hovering over the face (using the Present Single Color Set Names option).

Create files with "single color criteria sets" representing the desired color palettes, then load these sets into an existing file. If the Present Single Color Set Names option is invoked, when hovering over a face belonging to one (or more) of the sets, the set name(s) are displayed in a popup.

This option can either be invoked via the Sets popup menu or via the menu: View > Settings > Present Single Color Set Names.

Rename Set

Enter a new name for the Set.

Retrieve from Archive

Same as Detach Entities (above). The Archive is a predefined Set containing auxiliary geometry. This option is dimmed if no geometry is picked.

Select Entities

Select all the visible entities in the Set.

Show

Show the geometry in the Set.

Show from Selected Sets

This option lets you preview only the Sets selected in the Sets Tab when selecting Show from the menu bar. If, as in the exampleexample below, the 3 Sets Top Layer, Middle Layers and Bottom Layer are in Hide Mode and Middle Layers and Bottom Layer are selected, then only the hidden entities in these two Sets will be previewed.

Sort Sets Alphanumerically

Sort sets by Set name in standard alphanumeric order. This is a finite operation and does not set a default for subsequent additions.
