Boundary : Options and Results

Access: Open this function from one of the following locations:

Extend a face beyond its boundaries or complete its missing islands.

Required Step 1

Pick the face whose boundaries are to be modified.

Required Step 2

Set modification parameters. The following parameters are displayed:

Boundaries

This is a toggle option, Boundaries / Islands, that enables you to define the type of operation to be performed.

Boundaries

Perform the operation on the boundaries of the selected face. The face will be increased along its natural extension, slightly beyond the current bounding box of the part.

Notes:

  • The face will be extended along its isoparametric curves. In other words, the extension will follow the section - cross section curves of the original face. For more details on section / cross section curves, see Display Curves.

  • When picking an analytical face, the boundary is extended by 20 percent (as opposed to creating a complete periodic face).

Islands

Perform the operation on islands that are completely enclosed by the face. All islands are automatically selected; you can pick an island to unselect it.

Keep Islands

This is a toggle option Keep Islands / Remove Islands that enables you to keep or remove any islands that exist in the picked face. This option appears if the Boundaries option is selected, above. Keep Islands is the default option.
