Creating a Catalog File

Creating a catalog file consists of a number of steps:

  1. Constructing the part geometry.

  2. Defining the cutting object geometry where needed.

  3. Naming all relevant dimensions.

    1. Give names to the dimensions.

    2. Defining which dimension is a primary and which is a secondary dimension.

    3. Dimensions which are not named cannot be changed. They have fixed values in the part.

  4. Attaching names to entities (faces, edges, etc.). In MoldDesign. these names are later used in MoldDesign rules.

  5. Adding thread attributes where needed.

  6. Attaching names to the cutting objects.

  7. Setting the cutting rule (when cutting objects were defined).

  8. Saving the part as a Catalog part and setting the Cimatron Explorer attributes that will later be assigned to all the resulting catalog parts.

  9. Adding the part to the catalog.

    1. Setting the Catalog, Category and Sub-Category.

    2. Creating the catalog table (can be created in Excel and copied to the catalog table control).

    3. Setting the material for each record.

  10. Attaching a part picture which will be used in the catalog to describe the general shape of the part.

  11. Attaching a sketch picture which will be used in the catalog to explain the part dimensions.
