Cursor (Pick Tool)
The mouse is used as a tool for picking geometry. As you move over different types of geometric entities with the mouse cursor, the cursor symbol changes to indicate the type of entity you are pointing to, thereby enabling you to pick the required entity.
You can limit the types of geometry that are available for picking by using the Selection Filter. This means that if a certain entity type (for example, Edge) is unselected in the Selection Filter, the cursor symbol does not indicate that entity type (edge) when you move the mouse over it, and therefore it cannot be picked.
Note: When you 'pick' (click on) an entity, it becomes 'selected' and is displayed as selected in the defined color. You can define the color of selected entities (and also highlighted entities) in the Preferences under Tools > Preferences > General > Colors > Highlight and Select.
