Add Parting Surface Part
Access: Open this function from one of the following locations:
-
Select Parting > Layout Tools > Add Parting Surface Part from the menu bar.
-
Select Parting Layout Tools > Add Parting Surface Part from the Mold Design Guide Toolbar or Parting Guide Toolbar.
Create a new parting surface part.
Either create a new Parting Surface Part or define an existing part as a Parting Surface Part. A Parting Surface Part holds parting surfaces in a different part from that of the active surfaces.
Parting Surfaces: Parting surfaces separate the core and cavity mold halves; they are the contact surfaces of the two halves of the mold. Parting surfaces do not form the molded part.
Active surfaces: Surfaces which form the molded part.
While designing a mold project and dealing with large, complex surfaces and active parts, it is often necessary to create the parting surfaces in a part separate from the active faces. This increases system performance during the design procedure.
When this function is accessed, the Add Parting Surfaces Part dialog is displayed:

Parting Surface Part - Placing Options
When placing the part, the Add Component function is run, from Required Stage 2 (placing the component) and the placing options are displayed.
Pressing Required Stage 1 will re-display the Cimatron Explorer to select a different part.
The default placing options for Parting Surface Parts are On Assembly UCS and Same Component (whether for creating a new Parting Surface Part or defining an existing part as a Parting Surface Part). The On Assembly UCS option places the part on the main UCS of the active assembly.
The other placing option is Place by UCS which can be any UCS from the selected parting sub-assembly.
