Local Operations
> Local 3X
Access:
-
For Technology, choose Local Operations as the main selection, and Local 3X as the subselection.
Create finishing tool paths on multiple surfaces for 3-axis machining.
This procedure is very similar to 5X Production, limited to 3X machining only (regardless of the number of toolpath axes).
Note: To use the Local 3X procedure, a license is required. This license includes the use of Slot Mill and Lollipop cutters. Please contact your Cimatron Provider/Reseller. If you do not have a license, the Local 3X procedure is not displayed as a subselection and you will not be able to create, edit or execute a Local 3X procedure.
Creating this procedure
See Creating a Procedure for a general explanation.
Note: Before operating the Local 3X procedure, verify the normals of selected faces are in the same direction.
-
Run Object Direction and make sure that all the surfaces are white (signifying that the normals are in the same direction).
-
Stitched faces should be unstitched prior to rearranging the normals.
-
If rearranging the normals is required, this suspends other executed procedures that use the same faces.
-
For Technology, choose Local Operations as the main selection, and Local 3X as the subselection. The number of axes to be used is defined in the Tool Axis Control tab of the dialog displayed by pressing the Access button in the Tool Trajectory parameter table.
-
Choose the appropriate cutter.
-
Define the following Motion Parameters:
-
Stock (for 3X milling only)
Note: Update Remaining Stock is only available when using a 3-axis procedure with a cutter that is not a Slot Mill or Lollipop. In all other cases, no parameters are displayed.
-
Define the required geometry. Appropriate geometry sets are displayed in the Geometry branch, depending on the machining strategy selected in the dialog displayed by pressing the Access button in the Tool Trajectory parameter table. Geometry can be selected either from the Tool Trajectory dialog or from the Geometry branch.
-
Define the Machine Parameters.
-
When finished, you can choose from the following Work Mode Dialog buttons:
(These options are also available on the Procedure popup submenu.)
