Tree Pane

Access: Open this function from the following location:

  • Select View > Pane > Tree Pane from the menu bar. (The Tree Pane is displayed by default, except in NC).

The Cimatron Tree Pane contains a wealth of information on the currently open file. This information is contained in tabs which are displayed according to the type of file currently open.

All trees have the option to perform a Tree SearchUsing the tree search will expand the tree and any parts that meet these conditions will be highlighted in a different color. To quickly locate parts that may require attention, the tree symbols for parts are displayed at every level of the subassembly.

The following tree types are displayed in Cimatron:

Assembly Tree

In the Assembly environment, the Assembly tab is displayed. This contains the Assembly Tree. In the Assembly environment, the Tree Pane is divided into upper and lower sections, with the upper section displaying the assembly data and the lower section (the Feature Tree) displaying data (features) on the active file.

Drawing Tree

In the Drafting environment the Tree tab is displayed in the upper section of the tree pane. This contains the Drawing Tree.

Electrode Tree

In the Electrode application, the Electrode tab is displayed in the upper section of the Tree Pane. This contains the Electrode Tree.

Feature Tree

The Features tab (containing the Feature Tree) and the M-View tab appear in all Cimatron environments except for Drafting.
The Sets tab appears in all applications.

Groups Tree

In the Assembly environment, the Groups tab is displayed. This contains the Groups Tree. The Groups Tree is used for creating Groups in the Assembly Tree. The primary use of grouping parts together is for the Motion Simulation function; each group that you define can be given a different direction of motion.

Note: Grouping parts can also be useful outside of the Motion Simulation function. A Group provides an alternative to the Assembly Tree for hiding or showing a large number of parts in a single action. While Groups can be used much like an Assembly Set, the Groups Tree offers color and transparency control which is not provided by the Assembly Set pane. Also, unlike Sets, a part can only belong to one group at a time, and parts can be moved between groups by using drag and drop in the tree.

Parting Tree

In the Parting application, an additional tab, Parting, is displayed in the upper section of the Tree Pane. This contains the Parting Tree. The Parting Tree is also displayed in the Assembly environment.

Sets Tree

The Sets tab appears in all applications. The Sets tab appears in the upper and lower sections of the tree pane. The upper section displays the Sets belonging to the main Assembly or Drawing, while the lower pane displays the sets belonging to the active file. If the main assembly is active, both Sets tabs show the same data.

Notes:

  • The location of Tree Panes, like other panes in Cimatron, can be customized by docking them to one of the sides of the Cimatron window. The Tree Panes can be reset to their default settings either by resetting only the panes, or as part of a global reset of all toolbars, menus, and panes.

  • In all environments, an Auto Hide mechanism enables you to hide the Tree Pane on the side of the Cimatron window where the Tree Pane is docked, thereby increasing the viewable display area.

  • Shortcut keys can be applied to the Features, Sets, M-View and Parting Tree tabs by customizing the keyboard (under the Activate Tree Tabs category). In the Assembly environment, the shortcuts only apply to the lower tree pane.

  • A feature in a tree can be used to identify the corresponding feature in the graphics area and vice versa. Selecting a feature in a tree, highlights the corresponding entity in the graphics area.
    ExampleExample

Conversely, by using the Highlight Leaf option, selecting an entity in the graphics area, highlights the corresponding feature in the tree.
