Import TDM Cutters 

Access: Open this function from one of the following locations:

The Cutters and Holders dialog (or the minimized version - the Select Only Mode):

Import TDM (TDM Systems) cutters, holders, assembly, and machining data to the Cutter Table of the currently active NC file.

The import includes the cutter and holder definitions, as well as machining (Vc, Fz, and so on) and motions (Down Step and Side Step) recommendations.

Note: The R_TDM module must be available in the installed Cimatron license. Run the Installer Plug-in provided by TDM to extract the TDMInterfaces folder containing all necessary files.

Setting Preferences and importing TDM cutters

Important! Preferences must be set for importing TDM cutters before attempting to import the cutters for the first time. If you do not set Preferences as indicated below, the following message appears:

  1. Access Preferences from one of the following methods:

  2. Go to General > Importing NC Cutters. The Importing NC Cutters preferences are displayed. 

  3. Go to the Importing From TDM section in the dialog. Click the Browse icon adjacent to TDM Temporary Folder and select the folder where you will store the temporary TDM cutter files.

  4. Mark the Delete temporary file after import checkbox if you want to delete the temporary cutter files after the import is complete.

  5. Click OK  to save your preferences. 

Importing TDM Cutters

TDM copies the cutter information to a specified folder defined in Cimatron Preferences (see Setting Preferences for importing TDM cutters above). The cutter information is saved as CSV files and compressed to a single ZIP file. 

  1. OpenOpen (for more, click Access at the top of this Help topic) the Cutters and Holders dialog.

  2. Click the Import from TDM icon .

    Note: If this is the first time Import from TDM has been used, the TDM Settings dialogTDM Settings dialog is automatically displayed.

    1. Click Edit to change the settings.

    2. Configure the Close Dialog after Import option:

      • Mark the checkbox to close the TDM tool manager dialog after each import.
      • Leave the checkbox unmarked to keep TDM tool manager dialog open after import.
    3. Leave the other settings unchanged.

    4. Close the Settings dialog by clicking the x button at the top right corner of the dialog.

    Note: After importing the cutters/assemblies, Cimatron will delete the cutter files from the folder if you have set this option in Preferences (see step 4 above – Setting Preferences for importing TDM cutters)
