Cimatron Mesh Functions
The following functions appear under the Mesh menu.
The table below can be sorted; it has clickable headers that sort the table by the clicked column. The table is initially sorted by Function name.
Menu Section | Function | ||
Add or remove facets (triangles) to/from a mesh object. |
Close all open areas in selected mesh objects. |
Close holes and gaps in mesh bodies. |
Create composite curves by selecting mesh facet edges. The created contour can be used as input for any solid design, surfacing or mesh design operation. |
Copy selected geometry to a mesh object. |
Cut or divide mesh objects. |
Decimate (simplify) an entire mesh object. |
Hide or show the analysis marks created by the last used analysis operation. The markings are areas indicated as problematic during the analysis. If there are no marked entities in the file, this function is grayed out. |
Invert the direction of open mesh objects. |
Decimate (simplify) selected facets. |
Check and fix mesh bodies. This function checks the validity (topology) of the mesh object and is not a printability check. |
Offset, Shell or Extend an entity, producing a mesh result. |
Create a mesh object from a point cloud. |
Remesh an existing mesh object to achieve greater equilateral triangulation. This can help to fix or improve mesh objects and also makes them ready to be used in FEA calculations. |
Smooth a mesh object or selected facets to remove sharp edges and simplify the object. |
Split an existing mesh object into separate objects or create a new mesh object from a selection of existing facets. |
Stitch open objects into a single Mesh object. This stitches facets and faces that are separate objects into one Mesh object. At least one of the selected objects must be a Mesh object. |
Unite selected objects into one mesh object. |
Drive a volume along a spine. This function creates the volume formed by a 3D object (for example, an NC cutter) which is driven along a 3D path (3-axes). The selected object may be either mesh or solid. The created object is a mesh object. |
Create volumetric text on the part. |
The following menu sections are available under the Mesh menu.
This group of functions contains general tools for mesh operations. |
This group of functions is used to perform mending operations on mesh objects. |
This group of functions is used to validate mesh objects. |
Note: All operations are also accessible either through the menu bar and/or toolbar icons.
