Contour Milling
> CurveMx 4X & 5X
Access:
-
For Technology, choose Contour Milling as the main selection, and CurveMx 4x or 5x as the subselection.
Create 4 or 5-axis tool motions that trace a 2D or 3D contour, with or without reference surfaces. This function is ideal for machining the top of ribs that are defined only by their top contours and also for 4 and 5-axis slotting.
Notes:
-
Milling starts at the beginning of the contour, or where the tool is tangent to a start plane. It continues to the end of the contour, or where the tool is tangent to an end plane.
-
The cutting direction is determined by the order in which the curves of the contour are picked.
-
An OFFSET or SIDE STEP amount larger than the curvature radius of the contour, or in Sharp Corners, may cause loops.
-
We highly recommend that the distance between the contour and the surface is not greater than the tolerance.
