Note: If multiple Extensions are defined, the Total Extension Height value is updated accordingly.
Fix Extension Free Length |
The Extension Free Length parameter in the Cutter tab defines the visible length of the extension that extends from the holder and must be smaller than or equal to the Total Extension Height (displayed in the Extension Parameters tab). The Extension Free Length is measured from the bottom of the extension. In the Extension Parameters tab, check the Fix Extension Free Length checkbox to expose the full height of the extension and lock the Extension Free Length value in the Cutter tab to the same Total Extension Height. The Fix Extension Free Length option is to be used when the extension is an integral part of the holder and the free length cannot be changed. Changes to the extension height are displayed in the Cutter Preview Pane of the dialog. When the Total Extension Height in the Extension Parameters tab is ON, the Extension Free Length value in the Cutter tab is grayed out and locked onto the same value as the Total Extension Height in the Extension Parameters tab: The Total Extension Height in the Extension Parameters tab: |
Fit Diameter |
The minimum and maximum cutter or extension (if it is defined) diameter that can be mounted on the selected holder. This parameter appears in the Extension Parameters and Holder Parameters tabs. When the checkboxes are checked, the top diameter of the cutter/extension is compared with the Min./Max. ranges entered when the Apply |
While editing parameter values, the following system checks are conducted and associated prompts are displayed to ensure that the correct parameter values are entered:
-
When cutter parameter values are changed, the system checks whether the cutter(s) is used in a procedure(s) and whether the changes influence the procedure execution. If both conditions occur, a message is displayed informing you that all procedures that use this cutter(s) may be suspended if you approve the changes.
-
When editing a parameter value, any other parameter that may be affected by the edit is displayed with an orange background color.
-
Invalid parameter values are displayed in RED and signify that these values should be changed. If the Apply button is pressed while invalid parameter values appear in the dialog, a message is displayed with additional information regarding these parameters.

The process for adding/deleting extensions and for defining their shape is identical to that for adding/deleting spindles and holders.
